The Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has issued a statement this morning that he wants to assure people across Greater Manchester that we are doing everything within our power to bring the negotiations between bus operators and local trade union colleagues to a fair resolution.

Bus drivers are set to strike this coming week from Tuesday 30th September to Thursday 2nd October inclusive with two thirds of services expected not to run in a dispute over pay

“We understand and support the aims of the union but a way of delivering on them has to be found that is both affordable and sustainable for the Bee Network.” said the Mayor adding

“The simple truth is this: the ability to make a fair offer will be reduced if further strikes go ahead. For this reason, we believe it is in everyone’s interest to come to an agreement now and we are working flat out to that end.”

“We hope next week’s strikes can be averted but advise passengers to plan ahead and check the Bee Network website before travelling. It will be kept updated with all the latest information.”
