Andy Burnham has been re elected as Mayor of Greater Manchester taking 67 per cent of the vote in a crushing victory

Burnham said the vote sends a clear message to all Westminster parties, people are buying into English devolution” adding that people “value the stronger voice” they’ve been given,”

Asked if he could be next Labour leader. He said ‘I’ve been re-elected as mayor…I’m going to serve a full second term.’

He later told reporters that he was humbled by the result and that he loved the job

The Conservative candidate Laura Evans who received 19% of the vote, while the Green candidate Melanie Horrocks received 4.4%.
