Greater Manchester’s Mayor Andy Burnham has said that he fully intends to serve a full term as the region’s Mayor but cannot ignore wider events going on
Asked on BBC Radio Manchester this morning about if he would stand for Parliament if a seat came up in the region, the Mayor said that he was fully committed and loved his job as Mayor
However he said that he would be dishonest and would be doing the thing that he has tried not to do and could not ignore the events that are going on more broadly
Earlier he said that that he had a plan for the region and wanted to stick to it but if events changed he would not stick to it religiously
He also added that the country was in a reasonable turbulent place at the moment
