The Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been sacked at the start of a major reshuffle in Rishi Sunak’s Government

Reports say that Braverman was asked to leave the Government and not offered another job which it is understood that she would have turned down

She will be replaced by the former Foreign Secretary James Cleverley

Meanwhile in a dramatic comeback former Prime Minister David Cameron seen going into No 10 has been appointed as the next Foreign Secretary

The Conservative Party said that Rishi Sunak is conducting a ministerial reshuffle as he “strengthens his team in Government to deliver long-term decisions for a brighter future”

‘It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary. I will have more to say in due course’said Braverman on her sacking

According to Robert Peston The prime minister has been planning to sack Suella Braverman since she said that homeless people living in tents were making a lifestyle choice,

She does not understand the concept of being part of a team” said the government source. “What the prime minister is building today with the reshuffle is a united team”.

Theresa Coffey was sacked from her role as Environmental Secretary and was replaced by Steve Barclay who was demoted from his previous role as Health Secretary

Victoria Atkins has been appointed as Health Secretary, taking over from Steve Barclay.Atkins was previously Financial Secretary to the Treasury before becoming Health Secretary.

Commenting on the sacking of Braverman on X Manchester Council leader Bev Craig said

“Never have a group of people been so unfit for office.
It should never have taken so long for a Prime Minister to sack someone who sowed hate and division on our streets.”

Oldham MP Jim McMahon said on the X platform

The damage caused by the mainstreaming of division, intolerance and disrespect won’t be easily fixed. Whether this is a flash we will move on from or a Pandora’s box torn open remains to be seen.

On David Cameron’s appointment

Pat McFadden MP, Labour’s National Campaign Coordinator said

‘A few weeks ago Rishi Sunak said David Cameron was part of a failed status quo, now he’s bringing him back as his life raft. This puts to bed the PM’s laughable claim to offer change from 13 years of Tory failure.’

Manchester MP for Gorton Afzal Khan said on X

“There are 350 Tory MPs.Is @RishiSunak saying that there is not one good enough to be Foreign Secretary?”
