Brady Kurtz will take up the captain’s mantle for the Belle Vue ‘ATPI’ Aces in 2022, and he’s already tipping his boys for a great season in the Premiership.

It’s the first time the 25-year-old has stepped up as the skipper, but he is relishing the opportunity to motivate his team to top flight glory this year.

Kurtz said, “It’s a first for me to be named captain of a team but I’m looking forward to it, I think I’ve got quite a bit to offer the boys as a skipper. It’s definitely a job I feel suited to, and it will be a learning curve as well, but I don’t feel any pressure. There’s a great atmosphere in the team and the boys have been very supportive.

I think we’ve got a great bunch of lads so far. Obviously, we’re all very keen to find out who the last rider will be but I’m feeling good about this team. There’s a real buzz around the stadium and I think we are in for a really good season; hopefully it’s an even better one for Belle Vue than last year!”

It’s been several months since Kurtz’s last competitive outing following a crash in the Czech Republic, but after an extended winter break, he feels fit and ready to resume normal service.

He continued, “In hindsight, having those extra weeks off at the end of last year has been beneficial for me starting this season. I had metalwork removed from my collarbone and it just gave me the time I needed to get myself 100 percent fit and healthy to get back on it in 2022.

It was fantastic to get back on track at the National Speedway Stadium and I’ve got quite a few practices planned in Poland in the next couple of weeks. So yeah, I’ll be more than ready for the Peter Craven Memorial that’s coming up. It’s amazing to see a meeting of such calibre in England and I hope the fans turn out for it.”

Kurtz will join a smorgasbord of international superstars in Manchester on Monday, March 21 for the club’s flagship event: The 2022 ATPI Peter Craven Memorial.
