The 14-year-old required hospital treatment after the incident on Fenchurch Avenue, Newton Heath, at around 5:30pm on Wednesday

The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics and been taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Detective Inspector Paddy Connell, of GMP’s City of Manchester North division, said: “The victim sustained life-changing injuries and remains in hospital following the incident.

“We have had an increased police presence in the area since the incident and are carrying out enquiries but we are still looking for information from the public to piece together what happened.
