The Aldi store on Kemp Street in Middleton reopened this morning at 8am, following a significant refurbishment and extension.

Middleton shoppers can now benefit from a larger retail space of 1,315 sqm, offering an enhanced, convenient and varied shopping experience, with a large range of award-winning British products at unbeatable prices to choose from.

The new format has been created to make shopping even easier for Middleton customers, with the store now having an additional aisle and clearer signs to make shopping effortless. Fresh bread and cakes have been moved to the last aisle, preventing them from getting squashed under customers’ shopping, and the store will now offer new, easy to browse freezers.

Store Manager Paul Hevey said: “The team and I are really looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces as well as new customers and supplying our local community with the everyday amazing products we have available. Hopefully the new look store will make shopping at Aldi Middleton that bit easier and more comfortable.”

To celebrate the re-opening, Aldi Middleton arranged for Olympic Gold Medallist Gemma Gibbons to deliver a virtual assembly for pupils at Elm Wood Primary School as part of the supermarket’s initiative, Get Set to Eat Fresh – which has already inspired over 1.9 million school children aged 5-14 years to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food with their families.

Team GB Judo star Gemma Gibbons delivered an inspirational assembly focusing on the benefits of eating healthy food and the importance of exercise and believing in yourself. Gemma also talked to pupils about her experience of competing as an Olympian and shared her challenging training regime.

In addition to the virtual assembly, Aldi Middleton also offered pupils at the nearby primary school the opportunity to win a £20 gift voucher to spend at their new local store. Children at Elm Wood Primary School were tasked with creating a poster to show what healthy eating means to them. The winner, Riley Welsby Dickson, was selected by his class teacher for his special design.

Courtesy of the new Aldi store on Kemp Street, the school was also presented with a donation of fresh fruit and healthy snacks.

Team GB hero Gemma Gibbons added: “I’ve had a fantastic time speaking with the children at Elm Wood Primary School. It was great to talk to them about the importance of eating healthily and how it can be fun to plan and prepare meals as a family. Hopefully I’ve also managed to inspire the pupils to keep active and try different sports.”

Following its reopening, the store, located on Kemp Street, Middleton, Manchester, M24 4FH is open:
