Trafford Council has introduced a temporary restriction on barbecues, fires, fireworks and naked flames at Sale Water Park in response to the increased risk of fire during hot, dry weather.
The restriction has been put in place to protect visitors, wildlife, parkland and nearby communities. The measure applies across Sale Water Park and will remain under review while the fire risk continues.
Visitors are still welcome to enjoy the park and bring cold picnics, but they must not light barbecues, fires, fireworks or any other naked flames.
The Council will increase patrols at busy times to help keep visitors safe, support responsible use of the park and manage parking pressures. Security staff will also have water and sand available to safely extinguish barbecues or other flames where necessary.
Sale Water Park remains open from dawn until dusk. The popular site includes a lake, woodland, meadows, the River Mersey, cafés and water sports facilities.
The Council is also reminding visitors to park responsibly and avoid blocking access routes.
Recent busy periods have led to congestion in and around the park, which can delay emergency vehicles. Visitors are encouraged to walk, wheel, cycle or use public transport where possible. The nearest Metrolink stop is Sale Water Park.
Visitors are also asked to help keep the park clean by using bins provided or taking rubbish home if bins are full. Litter can harm wildlife and spoil the park for others.
