Counter Terror Police say Ann Widdecombe’s murder was a “targeted attack” with the motive currently unknown
Police are working to understand the planning, preparation and motivation behind the attack
They have also been granted a further warrant to detain the suspect for up to seven days under the Terrorism Act
“We will release further information when it is appropriate to do so”
Although counter terrorism police are leading the “complex” investigation, the killing has not been declared as a terrorist incident.
