Salford City have signed Luke Garbutt in what it is their first signing of the summer.

The 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal with The Ammies that will be effective from 1st July after leaving Blackpool at the end of 2022-23.

A graduate of the Everton academy, the left back made 12 senior appearances for the Blues including in the Premier League and the Europa League. During his time at Goodison Park he played alongside co-owner Phil Neville, as well as current Ammies Conor McAleny and Ryan Watson.

He was a regular for England at youth level up to the Under-21s, and won the 2010 Under-17 Euros with a 2-1 comeback win against Spain, earning a place in the Team of the Tournament too.

At club level he had a number of loan spells, including at Cheltenham Town in 2011-12 when they reached the League Two Play-Off Final. Loan moves to clubs higher up followed at Colchester United, Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Oxford United and Ipswich Town before he was released from Everton in 2020.

Blackpool was his next destination, and in his first season with the Tangerines they were promoted to the Championship via the League One Play-Offs. In total he made 65 appearances in three seasons at Bloomfield Road before departing this summer for a new opportunity.
