Mancunians have been doing their part to tackle climate change by reducing wastage and looking for food closer to home, according to new research. A massive 90% of people living in Manchester have done their bit to reduce plastic waste by reducing the amount they use, with over half (55%) of shoppers taking their own shopping bags to their weekly shop to help lower plastic waste.

A massive 67% of shoppers in Manchester have also revealed that where their food is sourced is becoming increasingly important. The new survey commissioned by AO.com has shown that shoppers are moving to more locally sourced produce because it’s better for the environment, improves the local economy and instils pride in the local area.

The survey’s results have been compiled into this handy infographic below
