Commuters in the region are set to benefit from upgrades following Rachel Reeves budget announcement this afternoon
The electrification of the line between Manchester and Stalybridge has been promised by the end of the year while the line between Bolton and Wigan will also be electrified and the other end of the Transpennine line between York and Church Fenton
Reeves also mentioned increasing capacity at Manchester Victoria station
