A cyclist in his 60s was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition with life-threatening injuries in hospital after being hit by a horsebox on Wilmslow Road yesterday morning

The accident happened at the junction on Sunbank Lane, police say the cyclist was travelling south down Wilmslow Road and at the same time, a horsebox was also travelling south along Wilmslow Road behind the cyclist.

The cyclist collided with the horsebox causing him to be unseated from the bike.

No arrests have been made but we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Police are also keen to trace the driver of a white VW Polo that was travelling directly behind the horse box at the time of the incident, and may be able to provide information on what happened.
