Salford City Council has prosecuted two people for fly-tipping and are warning others we’ll find you. 

Dan Milhail Motatu of Downham Crescent, Prestwich, was caught on CCTV on Friday 28 July 2023 dumping 15 bin bags of household waste on Cambridge Street.

The bags were infested with maggots and had a strong smell. Mr Motatu was invited to three interviews but failed to attend or cooperate with the investigation.

He pleaded guilty at Manchester Magistrates Court on Thursday 26 July 2024 and was fined £533 and ordered to pay £1,250 in costs and a £221 victim surcharge.

Abdou Salam Bocoum of Thornbank North, Bolton, was also prosecuted at Manchester Magistrates Court last week, after CCTV footage showed him dumping cardboard, plastic trays and other waste at the same location on Cambridge Street on Wednesday 23 March 2023.

Mr Bocoum attended an interview with a council officer and admitted the offence, but he chose not to pay the fixed penalty notice. He was fined £384 and ordered to pay £950 in costs and a £154 victim surcharge.
