A new basketball and tennis urban oasis with a relaxed outdoor bar is set to launch in Manchester city centre and be the summer of sport hotspot for those wanting to keep up with the Olympics and more.

Set to open its doors on 19th July, Courts Club will offer visitors a tucked away haven in the busy hub of Deansgate and the city centre and is being launched by Shiko Group in Allied London’s new St Johns development.

Opening in Goods Yard, St John’s, and just a stone’s throw from Deansgate and Spinningfields, the new food and drink offers a curated small bites menu and drink selection whilst also being a courtside venue with access to a full basketball and tennis court. Perfect as a brunch spot, morning coffee meet up or to simply catch a game, the venue is in prime location for those wanting to explore the creative and modern St John’s neighbourhood whilst being a stone’s throw away from the city centre action.

Featuring laidback seating, benched dining and lounge chairs, the venue embraces the greenery of St John’s offering a relaxed atmosphere with both indoor and outside seating. With activity planned to include pop-up food and live events, Courts Club will quickly become a Manchester favourite when its doors open this month.

Opening seven days a week, Courts Club will serve up sport via its courts and special screenings, a light mix of food and selected beverages as well as being the perfect meeting spot to catch up on sporting events, play a few games or simply enjoy the outside terrace.

Launching on 19th July, Courts Club will open its doors with free street food from Lucky gyros, drinks from Manchester distillery as well as a half court shot competition. For those who think their basketball skills are sharp, the venue is offering £500 to the first person who can make the tricky half-court shot with the competition running from Friday 19th-Wednesday 31st July.*

For those already itching to practise their serve or to shoot some hoops, Courts Club is also offering free court hire for its first month of opening. Reservations are taken via the bar or by contacting Courts Club directly.

Ahead of the eagerly anticipated launch, Anthony Ellis, at Shiko Group, said: “Courts Club will be a brilliant addition to the city centre, and brings with it a more relaxed atmosphere and chilled out vibe to catch up on sport, enjoy a coffee or light bite and soak up the last of the summer sunshine.

“We’re excited to offer a beer garden – Huge outdoor terrace, sports hotspot and a perfect meeting place all in one, and Courts Club will quickly become a favourite in the city centre.”

He added: “Joining a thriving hub with nearby Spinningfields, Salford’s New Bailey and Deansgate, Courts Club is ideally placed for the after-work crowd, those looking for a chilled ‘go to’ spot for coffee and to relax or to catch up on sport.

“Not only can Courts Club offer relaxed summer vibes with live music, but it’s also got access to the full basketball and tennis courts – the perfect place to shoot some hoops and let off some steam.”
