Police are appealing for witnesses after the attempted abduction of a 13 year old girl outside Timperley Tram station

The incident took place on the 27th June around 7.00pm

The victim exited the Timperley tram stop on Park Road and was making her way onto Ridings Road when she was approached by a man driving a white Vauxhall insignia.

After a short conversation, the man exited his car and tried to pick her up and put her in the car.

She managed to get away after several witnesses shouted at him, and thankfully no injuries have been reported, but she has understandably been left very shaken by this ordeal.

Detective Constable O’Rourke from our Trafford CID said: “Since receiving this report, we have taken several positive steps to identify a suspect, and we have a 31-year-old man who has been charged and remanded into custody.

“We are working with local partners to ensure effective safeguarding measures are implemented for our young victim, and she will continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

“I know that reports of this nature will be concerning, but we are treating this report with the utmost sensitivity and severity. Additional officers have been deployed to the area and they will be more than happy to speak to you should have any concerns or information you want to share.

However, I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time to come forward and speak to us directly. Any information you may have could be crucial to our investigation.

“If there is anyone in the area with doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage, I would also please ask them to contact us.”
