Cryptic posters have popped up around the city, teasing a new era for a Manchester-based fashion brand with a code that can only be cracked by casting your mind back to the noughties…

The posters feature a sequence of numbers “22-33-66-222-44” and challenge Mancs to ‘crack the code’ – fuelling speculation of a major revival for the beloved brand, Bench.

A QR code placed on the posters leads to this website page, where users have to enter a code. What looks like a retro phone screen is displayed on the page, hinting towards how to decode the 12 numbers.

This year marks the 35th Anniversary of the Manchester-born brand, and the timing of this tease hints something big may be on the horizon. Famed for its iconic streetwear, Bench has been a wardrobe staple for many over the years, especially for its trend-setting hoodies featuring thumb holes.

One X (formerly Twitter) user @EmmaDennis1996remarked on the posters:: “WAIT?!?!? Is Bench having a revival?! Seen these posters all around Northern Quarter today”

Recently the brand collaborated with Urban Outfitters for an exclusive women’s collection, sparking excitement and nostalgia amongst fans. However, this latest promo tease seems to allude to a much bigger project.

What’s for sure is we’ll be eagerly trying to crack the code.
