Rishi Sunak has given the biggest hint yet that this year’s General Ekection will not be until the Autumn

Interviewed by the media during a visit to a youth centre in Mansfield The Prime Minister said his “working assumption” is to call a general election for the second half of this year

adding that we can’t have a general election in May because “there’s lots that I want to be getting on with.”

Both Labour and the Lib Dems respond by accusing Rishi Sunak of “squatting” in No10 and calling on him to hold an earlier election.
