Young people aged 13 to 22 years old from across Greater Manchester are invited to apply for a role co-designing a loneliness campaign run by Co-op’s charity, the Co-op Foundation.

Volunteers enthusiastic about social action and helping lonely young people will work with professional marketeers to build the fourth year of Lonely Not Alone.

Lonely Not Alone has been running since 2019. It is made by young people for young people to help their peers feel more confident talking about loneliness. Research shows 3.1m young people have now seen Lonely Not Alone and 70% of those who recognise the campaign say they feel less alone in their loneliness.

Applicants this year will need to commit to joining an initial creative residential near Derby from 22 to 27 February.

Young people can apply online before 9am on Monday 31 January. Parents can read more here.

Andy Mortimer, Head of Communications for the Co-op Foundation said: “Lonely Not Alone has made a real impact since we launched in 2019 and our young co-designers have been at the heart of this success. Co-designers’ commitment to the co-operative values of solidarity and caring for others has helped us reach more than three million of their peers and help them feel less lonely. I recommend any young person keen to learn about campaigning and passionate about helping others to apply today.”

A co-designer from 2021 said: “My favourite part of working on Lonely Not Alone is developing amazing friendships. The Lonely Not Alone family has grown so much and I’m so happy that they’re in my life.”
