A Manchester comms agency has shaken up the PR and media sector with the launch of a new online search platform built during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Press Index, which has been launched by Nina Sawetz, founder of award-winning PR agency, Future, aims to act as a matchmaker service for journalists and brands.

Businesses joining the tech platform are listed in an online directory used by national and regional journalists who can search for relevant spokespeople for broadcast and print interviews by sector, region or keyword.

Members also benefit from 24/7 access to bolt-on support including journalist Q&A events, copywriting, press release distribution, media training and issues management support.

The platform launched today for businesses nationwide, but will initially focus on those in Manchester, Liverpool and London to match major TV news production locations.

Commenting on the launch, Nina said, “When a news story breaks, it is often difficult for the media to track down businesses to interview quickly and easily.”

“Over the course of the pandemic, I received hundreds of requests from journalists seeking businesses to interview for various news stories, from tech companies to food and drink brands and professional service offices, which shows there is a clear need for a matching service for journalists and spokespeople.”

“This platform flips the PR industry on its head. Rather than trying to persuade journalists to write about the brand, it puts the brand into the stories they are actively working on. It gives businesses the opportunity to get in front of journalists and say ‘I’m here and I’m ready’.”

Early registration for businesses is now live at thepressindex.com with exclusive launch week pricing until 1 September.

Media and journalists are also able to search the Index for interviews from today.
