A man in his 40’s is in hospital in a stable condition after being hit on the head during a burglary in Gatley on Easter Monday.

Three men forced entry to a house on Belmont Road, before threatening the occupants with a crowbar and hammer, and demanding cash and valuables.

The offenders fled on foot with a number of jewellery items. The men were described as wearing all dark clothing. No further descriptions are currently available.

Detective Constable Ed Hooley of GMP’s Stockport District said: “Thankfully the man who was attacked is doing well in hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery while we continue to investigate this crime.

“While we have limited descriptions of the offenders, this occurred on a busy residential street.

“Given current circumstances, there will likely have been a number of people in the area who were at home nearby and may have noticed what was going on.

“Did you see anything unusual in the area at the time? If so, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
