71 dogs and puppies which were seized from two properties in Radcliffe have been rehomed after a joint operation between GMP and the RSPCA
The rescued dogs and puppies they believed were connected to illicit puppy sales.
Two men (a 51-year-old and a 37-year-old) and two women (a 50-year-old and a 31-year-old) were arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and have since been bailed pending further investigation.
Inspector Halligan of GMP’s Bury district said: “Following intelligence received from a member of the public, we have been able to seize dogs and puppies – most of which were kept in extremely bad conditions, and alongside RSPCA we have given them new leases of life.
“Two properties have been searched, and alongside rescuing the dogs, we have recovered equipment consistent with the fraudulent and unlawful sale and breeding of puppies.
