A 55 year old man is in hospital fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Whitefield last night

The pedestrian was hit by a black Volkswagen Polo on Bury Old Road just before 8.00pm

The driver remained at the scene to speak with officers and no arrests have been made.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Philip Shaw, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has been left in a critical condition as a result of this collision and we’re working hard to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Our thoughts are very much with the man’s family as our enquiries progress and I would urge any witnesses to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Similarly, if you have any CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation, please contact our team.”
