A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a women died in hospital yesterday police have announced.
Officers were called by hospital staff to reports that a woman who had been admitted after falling ill had numerous injuries.
A short time later, the woman who is believed to be in her 30s and from Stretford sadly died.
The woman’s family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the woman’s family after we have sadly had to inform them that their loved one has passed away.
“We will be following every line of enquiry that is available to us to find out exactly what led to her death and will provide any updates as and when we can.”
