Chris Boardman’s ambitious plans to transform cycling in Greater Manchester applauded by national cycling charity

Cycling UK, the national cycling charity, has welcomed a new report by Greater Manchester’s Cycling and Walking Commissioner, for its bold ambition.

In his ‘Made to Move’ report, Chris Boardman is calling for £1.5bn to transform Greater Manchester into a world class region for cycling.

Paul Tuohy, Chief Executive of Cycling UK, said:

“Chris Boardman’s report shows an exciting level of ambition which the Government and other cities now need to copy.

“Meanwhile, we look forward to working with Chris, the Mayor of Great Manchester, and other partners to turn these ambitions into detailed plans and reality on the ground.”

The Made to Move report will be delivered  to leaders today at a meeting of Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

It has set out ambitious targets to improve cycling and walking rates to improve air quality, as well as tackling congestion on the region’s roads, and improving public health and wellbeing.
