A 28-year-old cyclist sustained life threatening injuries and remains in hospital for treatment after an accident in Trafford last night.

He collided with a Volkswagen Scirocco on Chorlton Road, close to the junction of Ayres Road around 1.15am

The driver remained at the scene to assist police with their enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Neil Pennington of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the man who has sustained serious injuries following this collision and is currently receiving urgent medical treatment.

“We’re appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, witnessed the collision or saw either the cyclist or car before the collision to come forward and assist police with our enquiries. We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage around the time of the incident.”
