In what the police are calling a fast moving enquiry, five men arrested by police have since been bailed after a twenty four year old man waa killed after he was stabbed during a large fight on John Dalton Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A large fight involving men and women is believed to have begun in the Suburbia nightclub.

The 24 year-old was treated for stab wounds to his neck at the scene but he sadly died as a result of his injuries.

Several other people were taken to hospital with injuries, including a man who had been hit with a glass and two women, aged 19 and 21 who were left unconscious after being punched.

Police officers were also attacked during the fighting and two officers had to be treated for minor injuries.

Superintendent John-Paul Ruffle of Greater Manchester Police said: “My thoughts continue to be with the man’s family at this devastating time. We are doing all that we can to put together the pieces of this puzzle for them.

“I would like to thank the public for their help so far in this investigation, we have set up a Dropbox facility for people to send in any video footage or photos that they may have of the fighting. “We arrested four men in the early hours of yesterday morning, and arrested a fifth man later yesterday. These have all been released under investigation.

“I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing out utmost to find those responsible for the death of this man, and we won’t stop until we’ve brought them to justice.”
