Phil Wedgwood, CEO of Manchester-based engagement technology specialist Engage, has been recognised as One to Watch in The LDC Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders programme for 2024, in partnership with The Times.

Created by trusted investment partner LDC – part of Lloyds Banking Group, The Top 50 celebrates those individuals that are leading growing businesses. This year the programme received more than 700 nominations, showcasing the exceptional talent behind successful and growing businesses across the UK.

Spearheaded by digital entrepreneur and technologist Phil Wedgwood, Engage is one of the UK’s leading engagement technology specialists. In just four years, its consumer-grade technology platform has revolutionised how organisations foster effective colleague, customer, and community engagement. With a passion for driving positive organisational change and impact, Wedgwood’s journey began long before Engage. His previous venture, Rekoop, disrupted the legal time recording market and became Europe’s leader before its acquisition by a major US competitor.

Wedgwood’s LDC recognition comes in a year that has seen Engage significantly expand its customer base, now providing support to The Ardonagh Group, Frenkel Topping Group and Mountjoy. The organisation continues to work with major brands including Manchester City Council, Manchester Law Society, Club-Brass at Hotel Gotham, in addition to national and international brands Itsu, TrustFord, Soreen, and B&M. Earlier this year, Engage was also recognised by GP Bullhound’s Northern Tech Awards as one of the top 100 fastest-growing technology companies in the North.

Wedgwood shared: “It’s an honour to be included amongst some impressive figures in LDC’s programme, and this recognition is definitely testament to the collective success of the Engage team. In addition to further strengthening our client base, this year we’ve also received acclaim for our impact across the Greater Manchester technology ecosystem. This latest accolade showcases our success on a national scale.

“In a landscape were retaining top talent and keeping colleagues and customers satisfied is more challenging than ever, investing in the right engagement tools is essential for driving not only profitability, but sustained growth and success. We look forward to continuing to create thriving colleague and customer communities for some of the most recognisable brands locally, nationally, and internationally.”

John Garner, Managing Partner at LDC, added: “It’s been seven years since we launched The LDC Top 50 and in that time, we’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly remarkable people, and this year has been no different. I’d like to congratulate this year’s Ones to Watch on their achievements so far – we can’t wait to see what they do next.”
