A man is in hospital with serious life threatening injuries after a stabbing in Little Hulton this afternoon
A 17 year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
Police say there was disturbance between a group of young men at Kenyon Way with reports that a man was chased by three masked figures.
Initial enquiries suggest this is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public but a scene will remain in place over night whilst officers continue with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Sarah Ball of GMP Salford division said: “We understand this incident may cause concern to the local community, but I’d like to reassure residents we have officers working around the clock to establish the circumstances.
“Extra officers have been deployed to the area to reassure the community. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to them, they are there to support you.
“I would urge members of the public who witnessed anything to please come forward and report this information to us. No matter how small the information may seem, it could prove vital to the investigation.”
