Police have revealed that a  a 15-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Rochdale Road, Oldham on Tuesday evening .

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of Serious Injury by careless driving; he has since been released on bail.

The man wa driving a black Seat Ibiza travelling northbound along the road when it collided with a pedestrian

His family are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

Police Constable Thomas Johnson, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “This is a tragic incident which has seen a child sadly lose his life, and all of our thoughts are with his family at this awful time.

“Specially trained officers are supporting the family through every step of the process, and we will keep them updated as and when any information becomes available.

“While we have made an arrest, we are continuing to ask for information as we progress our investigation – if you have anything that you think could help, or witnessed anything, please do get in touch. This includes any relevant dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage.”
