The M60 near to Stockport will have to shut temporarily over a three month period starting at the end of this month, the Highway’s Agency has announced

They are planning to carry out safety improvements to the Wellington Road bridge crosses over the M60 motorway, between junctions 1 and 27 in Stockport

Work includes replacing both sides of the existing barrier with a new 1.8-metre-high steel barrier. The new barrier will help to improve safety and accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians using Wellington Road bridge.

Throughout the scheme, which begins on the 25th April, there’ll be daytime lane closures in place on the A6 Wellington Road and they will need to fully close Wellington Road to motorists overnight between 9pm and 5am (extended to 7am on weekends).

Work will also mnean that Occasionally, they will also need to close the M60 and the A560 Great Egerton Street. This is to enable the safe set up of the temporary scaffolding and the work site area.
