Building economic and cultural links was the hot topic when the Israeli ambassador to the UK Mark Regev met council leader Rishi Shori yesterday at Bury Town Hall.

Cllr Shori took the opportunity to show Bury’s support for equality by signing up to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism.

Cllr Shori said: “I was delighted to meet Mr Regev and discuss how we can develop greater links between Bury and towns and cities in Israel.

“I’m also proud that we have signed up to the Alliance’s definition, which demonstrates our commitment to tackling anti-Semitism and celebrates the rich cultural diversity we have in Bury.
“I can also announce that the council has extended its contract with Prestwich Works, which helps many of our Jewish residents in improving their employment chances.”
