Stockport County came away with a second successive maximum points-haul following a three-goal win at Blackpool that took them to the top of the table on goal difference.

Backed magnificently and vociferously by just shy of 4,000 travelling fans on the coast of the Fylde Peninsula, County bounced straight back from the midweek League Cup exit against Blackburn to win at a ground where the hosts had not lost in league action for nine months.

In what was a first visit to Bloomfield Road in 20 years and three days – when County had last triumphed over the ‘Seasiders’ – second-half goals from Louie Barry as well as substitutes Jayden Fevrier and Tanto Olaofe saw the Hatters ride to victory on the crest of an Irish Sea wave.

Bolton Manager Ian Evatt was disappointed not to take maximum points after feeling Wanderers did enough to collect a first home league win of the season

The Whites kicked off their Toughsheet Community Stadium campaign with a 0-0 draw against Wrexham.

The draw extends Wanderers’ unbeaten start to three games and made it four points from six as they opened their home account in their League One challenge in front of a crowd of 25,957 – a new post-Premier League best.

Shaun Maloney wished his Wigan Athletic side could’ve given a very different account of themselves at Reading on Saturday afternoon.

Goals in either half from Charlie Savage and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan condemned Latics to back-to-back losses at the start of the 2024/25 Sky Bet League One campaign.

Speaking to Latics TV post-game, Maloney took responsibility for his side’s display and admitted the importance of learning from the manner of defeat and ensuring it doesn’t happen again.

In League Two Salford City earned a first point of the season with a 0-0 draw away at Bradford City.

While it’s a first point on the board, Karl Robinson says he and the team know they are capable of more.

“It’s nice being back in the dugout! I think the players showed a tremendous willingness, I see a better performance for Tuesday to Saturday.

“The steadiness and our progression will start to improve, we’ll start to see more consistency, we’ll see more bodies getting forward. We want to score more goals, we need to score more goals, if you want to win games you need to score. We need to be more pumped in the final third.

“They might speak about the goal that may be over the line, I’ve not seen it back so I can’t comment on that but we’ve certainly had enough chances in the first half to go in leading, and I think it could have been a different game especially in the second half, we could have got more control.”

In the National Conference,Rochdale were frustrated but remain unbeaten, as they were held at home to Dagenham & Redbridge at the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday.

An equaliser from Tarryn Allarakhia with just under 15 minutes to go earned Dale a point after Dagenham took the lead thanks to Dion Pereira’s goal early in the second half.

Harry Charsley’s 85th-minute goal earned Oldham a second win to start the new campaign.

Having found the target on the opening day win against Braintree, the midfielder struck again, this time in decisive style, to earn a hard-fought win at Wealdstone.

Altrincham were well beaten in sweltering South London conditions, as four goals towards the end of the first half left them facing an impossible task at the VBS Community Stadium against Sutton United
