Work has started on a major restoration project at Bramall Hall to repair the Hall’s iconic roof and protect its priceless interior from future damage.
Councillor Helen Foster-Grime (pictured), Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Sport at Stockport Council, recently visited Bramall Hall to check on the progress of the works.
Cllr Foster-Grime said:
“Bramall Hall is a vital part of our cultural heritage. The overall substantial investment from the council in the restoration ensures the Hall can continue to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, safeguarding it for future generations. I’m incredibly impressed by the skill and care the team is applying to preserve the unique architecture and history of this magnificent building – this key project will help preserve one of the borough’s cultural gems for many years to come against the increasing challenges of climate change.”
The roof restoration is expected to continue throughout 2025 and 2026, with sections of the hall remaining accessible to the public where possible.
During the work, Bramall Hall is still welcoming visitors – the team there will be able to share updates on the ongoing work and showcase some behind-the-scenes efforts of the project team.
There will also be an accompanying activities programme called ’Under our Roof’ giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the architecture, ecology of the building and the impact of climate change.
Bramall Hall is open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11am to 4.30pm.
