A woman pedestrian in her 50’s has died after being hit by a car in Leigh in the early hours of this morning
A blue Mini Cooper was travelling along Kirkhall Lane around 1.30an towards Atherleigh Way when it was in collision with the woman
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their investigation.
PC Phil Collingwood, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost our thoughts remain with the woman’s friends and family who are understandably devastated.
“We’ve been following up a number of lines of enquiry throughout the night and we remained at the scene this morning carrying out a thorough investigation to find the answers the woman’s friends and family need.
