A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention after a woman pedestrian was killed last night in Stretford

The female in her 40s, was struck by a Black Audi A8 travelling city bound whilst she crossed Chester Road close to the Tesco Express before falling into the path of a Mercedes on the Stretford bound carriageway.

The Audi left the scene however was recovered nearby.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian sustained injuries that have proven fatal. Her family have been contacted and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage of the incident or the vehicle movements leading up to the collision,
