It was FA Cup Preliminary Round weekend and at the Butcher’s Arms there was an eight goal thriller with Droylsden and Ratcliffe Borough sharing the goals.

Two Steve Lewis penalties and a couple for Luke Daly was not enough for the Bloods as two from Rokki, and goals from Yousif and Hindle means the teams meet again on Tuesday night.

Cheadle Town caused the shock of the round winning 4-2 at Evo Stik side Northwich Victoria. They travel to Trafford for the next round having made it through the Extra Preliminary Round two weeks ago beating Penistone Church.

A brilliant individual goal by Kingsley Williams just before half time saw Trafford win at Prescot Cables.

Hyde made it through easily to the first qualifying round proper with a 4-0 defeat of Cammell Laird. A goal in each half from Aryton Bevins, a twenty five yard shot from James Cadman and a 90th minute strike from Amadi seeing off the minnows.

Mossley put their miserable FA Cup record of recent seasons behind them beating Northern Counties East league leaders Hemsworth Miners Welfare at Seel Park by the same score.

In the Leagues Salford City sit fifth in the conference North, keeping a clean sheet for their third successive game with a fine first-half strike from Mike Phenix, his third of the season, proving the difference in a one nil win at Nuneaton as the Ammies named an unchanged sixteen for the third consecutive game.

Both Altrincham and Stalybridge find themselves in the bottom four after the weekend fixtures, a lacklustre Altrincham side lost away at league leaders Gainsborough Trinity, second half goals from Ashley Worsfold and Gavin Rothery were the difference.

Stalybridge also went down on their travels, losing 2-1 at Kidderminster, first half goals from Mani Diesruvwe and Tyrone Williams, put Celtic on the back foot but they came back in the second half thru a Nick Ryan goal but failed to break down a ten man Harriers.

FC United shared the points at Broadfields with Worcester City, Dale Johnson puttng the Reds a goal up after just 17 minutes but a Colby Bishop looping header beat Dave Carnell and levelled the game for the visitors on the half hour mark in a game where chances were few and far between.

It wasn’t a good day for Stockport County, as they crashed 4-2 at home to Brackley,  three goals in nine first-half minutes leaving the home side with a mountain to climb and although Danny Lloyd pulled one back, a fourth from Alex Gudger will twelve minutes to go consigned County to their first home defeat of the season.

Curzon Ashton meanwhile shared the points in a one all draw at home to Telford, Niall Cummins putting Curzon ahead in the first half with Danny Reynolds hauling the visitors level just before the hour mark.

Finally a goal in each half proved enough for Ashton to see off the pre-season favourites and current league leaders Hednesford Town at Hurst Cross in the Evo Stik Premier League, and put them top of the division on goal difference with two wins and a draw after three games.
