Police in Rochdale investigating a shooting on Beswicke Royds Street on Thursday 5 March have made two arrests in connection with the incident.

– A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and bailed.

– A 19-year-old man remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit wounding, possession of an offensive weapon and affray.

Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer, from the Major Incident Team, said: “Investigations are continuing at pace and we have now made two arrests as part of our enquiries into this incident.

“Patrols have been stepped up in the area at this time we believe it to be a targeted incident.

“We will relentlessly pursue anyone we believe to be involved in this shooting and will leave no stone unturned as we work to establish the full circumstances.

“We continue to appeal for information and urge anyone who may know something to come forward and assist with our investigation.”
