Two men – aged 20 and 25 – have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and firearms offences after an incident on Dudley Road in Whalley Range in the early hours of Thursday morning

Two cars were involved in a collision and a group of men – who were in the cars – ran off prior to police arrival meanwhile a bullet was recovered from the scene.

They remain in custody for questioning.

Chief Inspector Anthony Norman, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “These offenders had no regards for the safety of others with this incident taking place in the middle of the street in a residential area.

“Two men have been arrested so far, however our investigation does not stop here and we have a team of detectives working around the clock to establish the full circumstances of this incident an identify all of those involved.

“We would like to reassure local residents that there is not believed to be any threat to the wider community and we have an increased police presence in the area to offer community reassurance and assist with the investigation – please do not hesitate to speak to them if you have any concerns or questions.

“If anyone has any information at all that could help officers to complete their investigation, please get in touch as soon as possible. Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in helping police to piece together the full circumstances of this incident.”
