The Bill of Rights, introduced by former justice secretary Dominic Raab, has been shelved by Liz Truss over concerns about its drafting.

The bill which was intended to replace the current legislation enabled under the European Court of Human rights and make the Supreme Court in London ultimate decision-maker on human rights issues, was due back in Commons next week.

A senior govt source: “The bill is a mess and its not going to come back in anything like its current form.” and it has been reported that it needs a radical overhaul to stop it being vulnerable to multiple amendments
