Rishi Sunak has held a press conference in Downing Street after he saw off Conservative rebels to get his flagship Rwanda bill through the Commons by 320 votes to 276 last night

The Prime Minister told the assembled press that The Tory Party has come together & the Rwanda bill has passed.

However despite been twice asked the question,The Prime Minister failed to say whether any flights would be leaving for Kigali before the next election instead saying that was a matter for the House of Lords who will scrutinise the bill now it has passed the Commons

Sunak said that the flights were a priority for us and it’s incumbent for the Lords to pass legislation as soon as possible unamended.

He added that he’s determined to get on with it but doesn’t guarantee planes will take off before a General Election

Asked by Sky News What was his message to colleagues that think you are the wrong man for the job?

‘The plan is working’, says Rishi Sunak – adding that ‘last year was a tricky year, but we are now pointing in the right direction’.

Meanwhile a YouGov poll for Times shows support for the Tories under Sunak has fallen to the lowest level of support since Liz Truss was PM.

Support for the Government has dropped to 20%, while Lab has a 37 point lead according to the poll
