The Conservative Blackpool South MP Scott Benton should be suspended from the Commons for 35 days after being caught in a lobbying scandal, the Committee on Standards has recommended
The MP was caught in a sting in which he told an undercover reporter that he was corrupt & for sale.
If the recommendation is passed MP’s he would face a possible byelection.
Manchester Central MP Lucy Powell said
“This is a damning report from the Standards Committee, clearly concluding that Scott Benton seriously breached parliamentary rules in flaunting his position in Parliament. This is not an isolated case, but comes off the back of a wave of Tory sleaze and scandal”
