Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a large moorland fire took place in Bury on Tuesday
The fire broke out on Holcombe Hill. just after lunchtime was contained and put out later in the afternoon and an investigation was launched.
A teenage boy was arrested and interviewed the following day and he has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
On Thursday police arrested another two teenage boys who have also been bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Andy Wright from Bury district said: “The moorland fire is being investigated as arson following information from a witness and enquiries we have made.”
“We have managed to apprehend three teenagers in relation to this incident, all of them have been bailed following interviews with our officers.
“Fires can have such a devastating effect and we are lucky that this has not caused a significant amount of damage, or cost lives.”
