Two 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy have all been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of attempted murder over a stabbing in Whitefield last week which left an 18-year-old man with a serious injury to an arm.

They all remain in custody for questioning.

Previously, a 49-year-old man an 18-year-old man were arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 18-year-old, Charlie Harrison  of Mather Avenue was charged with affray and possession of an offence weapon and remanded to prison. The 49-year-old man has been bailed with strict conditions.

Officers also arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder but has now been released with no further action.

A 33-year-old man was then later arrested for attempted murder and has released on police bail.

Detective Inspector Charlotte Whalley of GMP’s Major Investigation Team said; “Our ongoing work and determination to bring those responsible to justice is continuing at pace.

“Involving GMP’s specialised units and resources, we have managed to track down three more suspects we believe are linked to this incident, as we try to understand fully the circumstances.

“At the centre of this is a victim and a family suffering immense anguish and they are being kept up-to-date with the progress in this investigation.”
