Three people have been injured after a building collapsed in the centre of Oldham

The building on King Street which was surrounded by scaffolding collapsed around 12.40pm with five people reported inside

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 12:40 GMT this afternoon, Tuesday, 24 March – three fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to an incident involving a collapsed building on King Street, Oldham.”

In a statement police in Oldham said

Five people have injuries at this time that are not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing and searches are continuing.

A number of road closures are in place and we would ask people avoid the area where possible.

Trams are currently suspended between Freehold and Rochdale Town Centre
