Festa Italiana has announced Viva la Cucina, a cooking class with a difference, as a very special event within its huge and varied programme for 2024.

Taking place on Saturday 24th August at 7pm, Viva la Cucina will give you the chance to learn from the best in the business as a line-up of renowned, charismatic celebrity chefs lead you through a carefully curated, delicious chaos.

This is the ultimate Italian cooking adventure that redefines tradition; if you think cooking is all about precision and quiet concentration, then you can think again! The art of Italian cuisine will be whisked up with a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere to create a night to remember.

Forget about following recipes to the letter, at Viva la Cucina, it’s all about the unexpected; from spontaneous dance sessions fuelled by lively Italian tunes that turn the kitchen into a full-blown party zone, to exciting cooking games that challenge your creativity and teamwork, and not forgetting the generous pours of a selection of fine Italian wines and cocktails guaranteed to keep your spirits up as you cook.

While this culinary bash is a whole lot of fun, the food is very serious business. As well as being served up a healthy portion of LOLs, you will also learn to create classic Italian dishes with fresh, high-quality ingredients. From homemade pasta to decadent desserts, it is a guarantee that you’ll master the basics of Italian cooking.

Festa Italiana head honcho Maurizio Cecco says: “We’ve been thinking about doing this for a few years, and now the time has finally come! Cooking classes are amazing, but parties are even better, so why not bring the two things together for a night we can all remember… well, kind of?

“There will be mega music, top chefs, crazy games, loads of booze, and beautiful food all served up with some questionable dance moves. What more can we ask for?! Get involved and you’ll find me on the dancefloor dishing out some funky chicken, and I don’t mean poultry!”

Created by the city’s family-run favourites Salvi’s, Festa Italiana’s 7th edition lands on bank holiday weekend, 23-25 August, at Festival Piazza, Cathedral Gardens, and is set to be the biggest one yet.

A passion project of Salvi’s owner, businessman and podcaster, Maurizio Cecco, Festa Italiana will once again gather the city’s Italian community for a celebration like no other – a true staple in Manchester’s summer calendar.

The ever-evolving festival programme promises a breathtaking journey to Italy right in the heart of Manchester, with a brand-new festival structure, a vibrant market, and a fresh music line-up being just a few of the latest additions.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy inspiring workshops, authentic food and drink, an energetic soundtrack, and more.
