Spirit of Manchester Distillery, home to one of the city’s most famous exports, Manchester Gin, is gearing up for National Distillery Day this Friday 2 August.
The annual celebration, held on the first Friday in August, will see craft distilleries across the UK throw open their doors to the public and showcase how their spirits are authentically produced.
National Distillery Day aims to raise awareness of the ‘Actually Made In’ campaign, founded by four of the UK’s leading craft distilleries. Over 120 distilleries are now part of the initiative which encourages the public to support local working distilleries who produce their own spirits in-house.
To honour National Distillery Day, the award-winning Spirit of Manchester Distillery, located on Watson Street in Manchester city centre, will be hosting free, mini distillery tours where visitors will be able to learn more about distilling, watch first-hand how gins, vodkas, whiskies and rums are produced and get a chance to taste their favourite spirits.
The free mini-tours and tastings will be taking place on the hour, every hour, from 12 to 5pm on a first-come, first-served basis.
Guests will also get a free Manchester Gin Signature gin and tonic to sip during their tour.
Jen Heeley-Wiggins, founder of The Spirit of Manchester Distillery, said,
“We are so excited to welcome the public to our venue this Friday to celebrate National Distillery Day. We want to give something back to the city and would like to invite anyone who has a keen interest in craft production, or anyone who simply just loves a G&T to come down.
“We have invested a huge amount into our distillery here in the centre of Manchester and the amount of work and expertise needed for distilling is often underestimated. Guests are always blown away when they see the sheer scale of the production facilities we have here.”
“We can’t wait to show everyone how much passion and dedication goes into creating our award-winning spirits and celebrate National Distillery Day along with the other participating distilleries across the country.
