The Government has wpn its crunch vote on the Rwanda Bill, by 313 votes to 269 in the House of Commons this evening despite fears of a Tory rebellion

It has been estimated that around 15-20 Tory MP’s abstained over the vote and has set the stage for bitter clashes in Commons and Lords over legislation next year

Earlier Right-wing Conservative MPs said that they will not be backing Rishi Sunak’s emergency Rwanda legislation – with the “bulk” of them expected to abstain, according to Mark Francois.

A No 10 spokesman said

“Tonight the House has shown its support for the Prime Minister’s legislation to deem Rwanda safe and stop the boats.

“We will now work to ensure that this Bill gets on to the Statute book so that we can get flights off to Rwanda and stop the boats.”
