Taylor’s in Stockport has made the Official Guide to the UK’s Quality Fish and Chip Shops 2021, published by the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) in collaboration with Sarson’s vinegar.

The Stockport based chippy is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike and a vital hub on the Woodley precinct.

Serving up quality fish in a perfectly light and crispy batter with homemade tartar sauce to compliment. Offering plenty of options to cover your chips in as well including a splendid Irish curry.

In reaction to the pandemic Taylors director Anne Wallace adapted by setting up click and collect and delivery options which remain in place today.

Sitting above the chip shop is a space for education in cooking, the class that had just finished on our visit had been taught how to prepare katsu curry and biscuits.

A true warm and friendly atmosphere welcomes you into the store with outstanding staff who make all feel very welcome!

The guide features further outstanding Fish & Chip shops from all over the UK, including for example those that reside in or near the rolling countryside such as Penaluna’s Famous Fish & chips at the foot of the Brecon Beacons national park, and coastal ones such as Holmbush Fish Bar in Cornwall.

The guide can be read and downloaded here. From 29th October, it will be possible to request an official printed copy of the guide – so whether you’re near home or on a staycation, you can have a copy at hand to find the best chippy wherever you are.

With 382 million meals from fish and chip shops eaten every year in Britain, and ‘Chips’ and ‘Fish & Chips’ taking the two top spots as the nation’s most popular dishes, it’s clear the love for this British tradition shows no signs of fading.
