The Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that a “standing army” of police officers will now deal with the riots that are breaking out across the country
He promised that rioters will soon be named and shamed and face harsh punishments
“We will ramp up criminal justice. I have asked for early consideration of the earliest naming and identification of those involved in the process, who will feel the full force of the law.” He said at a press conference following a COBRA meeting at Downing Street earlier today
A Downing Street spokesman said that police working with the National Crime Agency to tackle criminality,and bot activity online, which may involve using state actors
He also condemned Elon Musk’s ‘civil war’ post:
“No justification for comments like that”
and added that social media firms need a immediate response, while the Government will consider a wider framework in due course
